Today I could just define myself as tired. Cycling to work via the station for a paper nearly killed me. Luckily I could rest for 2 hours before teaching the first of my 4 classes. The First year class went really well. They seemed excited to play the Crossroads game again. As always they wondered who would be the last person (usually boy) standing who would have to do the forfeit. As usual Hiki was unable to keep quiet throughout the entire class, bless him and Miya decided I was metabolic...lovely. But they did their work and one of the nervous kids got a perfect on his memorisation task when I tested him which is a real turn around and he seemed pleased. Tomorrow we'll road test my Time Bomb game...
Then followed 3 Third year classes. Ms. Hiramatsu had prepared them to do a short skit in pairs based around a telephone conversation. With previous Third Year students in Kashiwara this would not have been a problem. However, this time we were nervous. Would they do it? Would they turn up to the class at all? Well the answer for the most part was yes. To our eternal shock they did it and did it well. One surprise is that one of the Giants and a boy called Mo not only took part but they did it well albeit after taking a long time. Today they have proven to me along with their chorus efforts that despite their rep these kids could do so well. If only we had more time but the exams for high school start in january.
Tonight we ate yakisoba which is buckwheat noodles with sliced potatoes, legumes, cabbage, mushrooms, carrots and slices of pork all fried together with a mild sauce (no spices). Add a little mayonaise for taste and its all good.
No writing today. Just some brainstorming for a story called "Last Ship To Paradise" which I would love to translate into Japanese. Basically too tired to write much today except these blogs. Might work on the site some more.
